Potato Hay Day

I. Show the students a potato and tell a little bit about it:
\
A. how and where it grows
\
B. different ways potatoes are cooked (fried, boiled, baked, mashed)
\
C. the vegetable that is grown the most in the world is the potato
\
D. the potato is composed of 80% water
\
II. Play Potato games:
\
A. Mr. Potato head game
\
1. Divide the class into teams.
\
2. Have each team choose one person and race against each other to assemble Mr. Potato head and all of his pieces.
\
3. Give the winning team points.
\

Materials: 
2 potato bags (burlap bags), 1 potato, 2 Mr. Potatohead w/ body pieces, one or more types of potato foods

1. Put the fruits and vegetables on the board one at a time and name each fruit/vegetable, where it grows, and what kind it is.

2. Take them down and then have the children place the fruit/vegetable you call out under the correct place where it grows.
\
3. Tell the children how bears stay healthy and how people stay healthy.

Demoustrate the making of pancakes and how the students each try home. Then, using the pancake butter, thir it out and make anion rings.

Skillet, round bottom cooker, oil, butter, syrup, eggs, pancake, mix, milk, water, gas and bumer, spatula, mixing bowl, eggs, onions, plates, forks, something to drink, knife, wash cloth and towel, lighter
